Group Home Direct Care Staff

The Direct Care Staff is responsible for providing ADL (activities of daily living), habilitation, and skills-training in the residences. The Direct Care Staff reports to the Residential Director. This position will provide training to individuals and serve the areas of domestic skills, community access skills, recreation/leisure skills, and vocational skills as directed.

Job Responsibilities

  • Implementation of training programs.
  • Writing progress notes, program summaries and incident reports.
  • Making staffing recommendations.
  • Documenting service delivery.
  • Perform duties in compliance with TXMHMR, HCS, and THHS standards and MILLS policies and procedures.

  • ADL services are those services provided to individuals, which include direct personal supervision of the individual to encourage and maintain skills development such as housekeeping, meal preparation/planning, laundry, budgeting, basic self-help skills, supervision of self-help skills and independent living skills, securing/providing transportation, appointments, social interaction, following and monitoring for other task specified services or general needs.

  • Habilitation services are delivered to ensure optimal functioning through development of skills or modifying behaviors, which interfere with cognitive, social, emotional, communicative and physical development. This service is intended to enhance social, personal and daily living skills, communication skills by utilizing appropriate home and community services. Examples of this are: service/development/implementation of behavior management programs, counseling of individuals and/or family to solve problems, budgeting skills, balancing checkbook, use of emergency services, independent self-help skills, independent living skills, communication skills, social skills, etc.
